BIM / Construction
Project Engineer / BIM Coordinator
Nauset Construction Corp.
date: 2009-2020
During my hiatus from studying architecture full-time I spent a decade working in the field of commercial construction. During this time I furthered my knowledge of the building trade more than I have yet to realize, and have developed a solid basis and understanding of the teamwork involved across disciplines to bring successful projects to completion. I worked to review and solve constructibility issues and technical details with the trades, communicate with design team professionals and subcontractors to obtain conflict resolution, drive the process when parties involved are in a stalemate, develop and publish corporate BIM Coordination and Management procedures, manage project coordination across multiple projects.
VA Providence OR Addition - 2009/2010
Required complex layering of MEP and structural components above finished ceilings — coordinating clearance down to 1/4"-1/2". This was pre-Revit: I relied upon field sketching, CAD, and SketchUp to produce accurate massing models for presentations and team review.
Joint Force Headquarters Building - Phase II, Hanscomb AFB - 2012/2014
The largest office project I assisted on, I handled HVAC and Plumbing coordination and furnished these documents to all trades so work could be planned in advance and executed to eliminate the need for re-work in the field.
UTES, Camp Edwards - Sandwhich, MA - 2015/2017
A one-story office/storage facility, and two maintenance bays with 15-ton trolley cranes. The prefab metal building system (MBS) had to be coordinated with the auxilary catwalks, MEP's, as well as crane loading and clearances.
SketchUp modeling utilized to confirm room layouts with design team and end user.
Composite of MEP & structural elements
Navisworks overlay with built elements. Maintaining proper clearances for the crane operation was key.
