A Walk in Italy

Updated: Oct 18, 2018

Tuesday was walk around day - covered more than I had anticipated. So, Wednesday became walk a little less day. However, with pathways that wind more than Boston roadways and having taken a day to gain a sense of direction, I still found myself backtracking every now and again.

If you don't enjoy spending your time among throngs of tour groups, best to avoid the waterfront and shops near San Marco during daytime hours. Happily as the day winds down, the tour groups subside. The 'battling' concertos set up along the outskirts of the plaza are a pleasant place to grab a seat and absorb the atmosphere.

Wednesday was also back-to-school and learn something new day. On display at the Palazzo Franchetti were works of the 1980s group Memphis - arguably the catalyst of what would become recognized as the 80s look/theme.

And a trip to Italy wouldn't be complete without recognition of Greece. Adjacent to the Greek Orthodox Church is a museum of Byzantine era iconography - which I've left open as a place to visit on my Next visit.
